Scallops are a much loved member of the mollusc family. If you are a big fan of them or have never tried them before but are intrigued by them, you should consider taking a trip to Rye Bay in East Sussex for a full week of activities and events dedicated to the humble and tasty scallop.
You’ll have the chance to experience a seafood delicacy you may not have otherwise had a chance to try yet in life. Throughout the week, various local eateries and restaurants around the idyllic town of Rye on the coast of East Sussex, will be including their own variations on scallop dishes on their menus. This gives you an opportunity to try in a short space of time various cuisines making use of the same, tasty ingredient.
As well as menus full of scallop dishes, the week will also involve more traditional food festival activities and events such as local chef-led cookery demonstrations involving the mollusc, scallop cooking classes, free samples and tastings and so much more. There will even be live musical performances around the different venues involved in events that week.
Don’t be too disheartened if you cannot make it to East Sussex for Rye Bay Scallop Week, as most of the restaurants and other eateries serve fresh scallops throughout the year.
