If you want a true taste of what West Country rural life is really like, you should take in the sights, the sounds and the other delights of the Royal Bath And West Show. It is not one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the countryside calendar for no reason. One of the best of its kind, there is plenty going on and all of it is a lot of fun.
As you would guess, the event is a celebration of all that is great about farming and rural life and it features some of the finest livestock in the country. Obviously, there is the Best In Show competition, but there is also lots of displays from ponies, gun dogs and horses. There is even what is known as the Fur & Feather zone for your children.
With a fascinating insight into the life of British honeybees and plethora of rural-inspired live crafting demonstrations, you can see that family are the main focus of this festival. The thing most people look forward to at these kid events is the food.
There are around 600 different stands catering to lots of different tastes. The British Cheese Awards also takes place during the festival, and as previous years have known to include a whopping 900 entries, all cheese aficionados should take note. If you are looking for something very West Country and very refreshing, though, The British Cider Championships is also taking place at the event. The perfect excuse, if you ever needed one to taste some of the best tipples in the region.The British Cider Championships will also be held – the perfect opportunity to try some first-class West Country tipples.
