The Lambeth Country Show has been going a long old time now, way back to the seventies. This year it’s back and it’s bigger than ever.
You will get all you expect from a country fair. Home grown vegetables, potted fare such as jams and chutneys, fudge and toffee and the wonderful treats that go along with any country fair. You will also see horticultural shows, sheep dog and owl and falconry displays. But in Lambeth you also get an urban feel too, with a special South London vibe. The music reflects with reggae beats, some Latin dub, afrobeat, ska and soul. There is music on both days and the Sunday is Roots and Reggae day
There is going to be some medieval jousting, and vegetable sculptures that will win prizes. There so much to see and do, everything is sorted into zones. Twelve zones mean plenty to see and do for all the visitors. The zones cover music, art and theatre; sport and games, food, animals horticulture and more.
How about the Arts and Culture Zone, with workshops and performances dedicated to dance and culture.
If you live in the city and love flowers then get yourself over to the Flower Zone, with it’s vegetable characters, scarecrows and a recycled garden competition. Maybe you would like to take a look at the Bonsai exhibits? Or perhaps you fancy a boiled fruit cake……mmmm!
Perhaps my favourite thing about the Lambeth Country Show is the animals. Donkeys, horses, cows and bulls, sheep and goats, dogs and even guinea pigs will all be making an appearance. Owls and falcons too. There is a best in show competition for the sheep, which features over 90 sheep.
