The Charlbury Beer Festival is the biggest one-day independent beer festival in Britain, and it is easy to see why it is so popular with beer drinkers and others. Family-friendly is the word of the day, this festival has entertainment and activities for guests of all ages. The Aunt Sally Open Singles World Championship is one such activity, and the Culture Club where you can watch crafts being created and screenings. There will be lots of food on offer for hungry visitors too, including a full hog spit roast.

This year is very special because it is the 20th year of Charlbury Beer Festival. Over the last 19 years money has been raised for different charities and the fundraising side of the Charlbury Beer Festival is very important to the organisers.

Last year there was a celebration of 400 years since Shakespeare died, so there was a barrel rolling stunt along Shakespeare’s Way, among other activities.

The beer is the real star of the show though, and there will be a huge amount of different beers, last year there were 50 types of beer and this year it could be more. There will also be wines, ciders and perries to sample.  Last year they even had a beer bus from Bologna, with six special Italian beers.  The organisers like to get new beers every year so you are bound to find something that you love. If you are a beer drinker then you will get a commemorative beer glass along with tokens to enjoy the beer of your choosing.

Don’t forget the children! There will be plenty for kids to do with different activities as well as entertainment. Of course, no beer festival would be complete without music, and there will be live music all day long. It promises to be a great day out!
