Baths are normally seen as calm and relaxing experiences, where you take the time to lay down in the water to chill out. On the 15th and 16th of September, at the University of Bath there is a different kind of experience entirely, where the name of the game is chilli.
Held on the University’s campus, this festival sees a swarm of chilli newbies, seasoned enthusiasts, chilli experts and chilli retailers all join forces to increase the increase the heat on the tail-end of summer and start of autumn.
Before we get onto the bigger, meatier part of this whole event it is worth telling you that you will be able to buy a wide variety of chilli products not just from the South West but various other places too. You will also have the opportunity to learn all about the science behind chilli growing and cultivation as well as how to cook with it.
The education will be accompanied by numerous chilled out and blissful acoustic sets over the course of the two days and your children will be able to run wild and free in the specially children;s area and take part in child-orientated activities.
Now that the lovely extras are out of the way, it is time to mention one of the most infamous parts of this festival, the chilli eating competition. Beware that only those not faint of heart should enter this competition that will pour real fire in your belly, if it gets past your tongue that is.
Bath Chilli Festival is a love song to all things hot, spicy and very tasty and if you are looking for something with a little kick, this is the event for you.
