Although many people think of pies when they think of Melton Mowbray, it is also the home to one of the biggest cheese festival in the UK, the Artisan Cheese Fair.

Could there be any more of an apt venue for a cheese fair than a cattle market? We don’t think so. While there is not going to be any live demonstrations of milking cows or churning, there is going to be over 70 different cheesemakers, who have produced a total of more than 300 scrumptious cheeses between them.

The organisers are sure that there will be something for everyone, regardless of whether its that rare blue you have been dying to try or a new take on an old classic. If you are looking for some education in addition to your taste adventures, then you will be able to join one of the fully tutored tastings offering a special presentation into the Britain’s favourite mature blue cheese.

While it is true that many will be happy enough to just sit around eating cheese all weekend; if you are looking for something to accompany it, you will find cider, cakes, ales and wines and of course; pork pies. One of the best things is the fact that all the produce has been sourced from the UK.

Along with all of the sampling, choosing and tasting different types and strengths of cheeses, there will also be guest talks, great one for anyone new to cheese who wants to learn the ins and outs.
