Over the last few years, the streets of Wakefield have been almost literally paved in rhubarb as everyone in the town and many visitors celebrate some of the best food and drink in the city at the Wakefield Food, Drink And Rhubarb Festival.
At the sophisticated and visually stunning cathedral precinct is where the main attractions will be taking place – including having a chance to meet and chat with local rhubarb growers and sample from their produce. There is always also a plethora of different activities to take part in including workshops, taster sessions and live cookery demonstrations by experts.
Even if you don’t fancy spending the whole weekend in the main festival area, as you walk around the picturesque city of Wakefield, you will discover lots of additional and fringe food events that just help to add to the jovial atmosphere in the city at this time of year. Look out for a varied array of interesting and curious street entertainment too.
Although the event is completely free to attend, individual activities may have a small fee and when we have that information, we will update this page.
So if you are a fan in particular of the deep red and very bitter fruit, or are just a fan of fun and food in general and know you will be in the Wakefield area during February, make sure you try to at least attend a day or two of this fine event. There is so much planned that you are bound to find something you enjoy.
Note, please check the event website before attending. Dates can change and events can get cancelled, we can not be held responsible.
